"Paris#Marrakech II": On December 30, Artcurial closes the auction year with French and African artworks in Paris and Marrakech.

In 1917, French painter Jacques Majorelle discovered Marrakech, its landscape, colors and light. 100 years after his arrival, the artist who created the famous Jardin Majorelle is again on everyone's lips. Just recently, the newly opened Yves Saint Laurent Museum dedicated a special exhibition to him, and at the end of the year, the artist is now at the center of the auction "Paris#Marrakech II" of the French auction house Artcurial, which will take place on December 30, 2017 in Paris and via live conference simultaneously in Marrakech.

Up for auction are 70 works by Majorelle and his contemporaries, plus African contemporary art. With "Le Marché aux dattes" from the 1940s and "Les Allamates, Marrakech", two particularly important paintings by Majorelle are in focus. The most expensive lot, however, could be the painting "Le Khôl" by Majorelle's contemporary Étienne Dinet; Artcurial estimates its value at up to 380,000 euros.

Jacques Majorelle Kasbah de Tasgah, valée de Télouet (Grand Atlas), 1940-1941, 120.000 to 180.000 Euro.
